SYM25 - Occurrences are Neither Specimens or Samples: Data modelling challenges and opportunities for information storage and exchange
Sort by:
Edited by Erica Krimmel, Stan Blum

The Occurrence class was ratified in Darwin Core fifteen years ago in response to a need to accommodate both observations and specimens; it has become the defacto vehicle for how we exchange evidence of biodiversity. This symposium raises awareness about the artificial nature of Occurrences and investigates what challenges and opportunities might be decoupled from their constituent events.

Session organisers: James Macklin, Stan Blum, David Shorthouse
